Which Trial Of Chaos Modifiers Should You Choose In Path Of Exile 2?

Trial Of Chaos in Path of Exile 2 is one of the important ways for players to gain Ascendancy Points, and it is also an important part of the endgame. Similar to Trial of Sekhemas, players need to complete a series of challenges without dying in order to move forward.

You will have challenges with different goals in each room, and Trialmaster will give rewards and curses in each room. You must choose one of three negative modifiers, and these debuffs, once selected, will not disappear during this trial. The trial is relatively simple at the beginning, but the challenge will increase exponentially as each room you pass will add another negative modifier.

Trial Of Chaos Modifiers

In Trial Of Chaos, you must choose one of three modifiers before you can challenge a round. If you choose a particularly bad modifier, the next challenge will become particularly difficult.

Here are the modifiers for Trial of Chaos:

  • Stormcaller Runes: Runes will appear. If you stay in the rune, it will summon lightning storms.
  • Vaal Omnitect: An ancient Vaal machination will attack nearby invaders.
  • Stalking Shade: An invincible shadow stalks you, inflicting Ruin with melee attacks. Reaching level 7 Ruin means Trial has failed.
  • Burning Turrets: Challenge Area contains turrets that periodically fire flame bombs forward.
  • Shocking Turrets: Challenge Area contains turrets that periodically fire lightning bombs forward.
  • Pyramid Beams: Pyramid objects appear, firing four rotating laser beams that cause Corrupted Blood when hit.
  • Impending Doom: Rings of Doom appear on the ground and expand over time, exploding once they reach their maximum size.
  • Heart Tethers: Bloody hearts appear, shackle you, slowing you down. Breaking free of the shackles stuns you.
  • Reduced Recovery: Health, mana, and energy shield recovery rates are greatly reduced.
  • Petrification Statues: Challenge Area contains several statues that petrify you if you are in their gaze range for a while.
  • Damaged Defenses: Defenses reduced.
  • Reduced Resistances: Elemental Resistances and Maximum Elemental Resistances reduced.
  • Blood Globules: Blood Globules appear nearby and track you. When they land on top of you, they deal physical damage.
  • Deadly Monsters: Monsters have a 300% increased critical strike chance.
  • Chaotic Monsters: Monsters gain 20% of their damage as extra Chaos Damage.
  • Toxic Monsters: Monster hits always cause Bleeding and Poisoning.
  • Time Paradox: Buffs expire three times faster, and debuffs expire three times slower.
  • Resistant Monsters: All resistances of monsters is increased.
  • Unstoppable Monsters: Monsters cannot be slowed or stunned.
  • Entangling Monsters: Monsters create Grasping Vines when they hit, slowing you down.
  • Enraged Bosses: Bosses make more damage and take less damage.
  • Lethal Rare Monsters: Rare monsters have 2 additional modifiers. Rare monsters increase damage by 30%.
  • Volatile Fiends: Monsters release Volatiles when they die, and rare monsters release larger Volatiles. Volatiles can deal a lot of damage.
  • Escalating Damage Taken: Damage taken will slowly increase by 1% per second in each room, up to 50%.
  • Lessened Reach: Area of effect and projectile speed are reduced by 50%.
  • Drought: You can no longer gain Flask and Charm Charges when a monster dies.
  • Monster Speed: Monsters’ abilities are 20% faster.

While these modifiers may seem overwhelming, some of them are actually not that hard to deal with. Lethal Rare Monsters increase Rare Monsters, which can even be considered a positive modifier because it gives you more PoE2 currency items. However, most of the modifiers will make the trial very difficult.
